Certified Medical Assistant
Responsibilities: Coordinating with nurses and prescribers, assisting in patient care including taking detailed phone messages, triaging the calls based on clinical urgency, calling patients and pharmacies, completing medication orders per prescriber order and notifying patients of prescriber response to message, obtaining vital signs, and performing injections as needed.
Completing necessary clinical documentation for prescribers, i.e., Indigent medication program forms, Interoffice referrals, transfers and closings as needed. Maintain master copies and supply of medication information sheets for prescribers. Coordinating retrieval and transmission of collateral clinical documentation, lab work and discharge summaries. Faxing/copying needed lab work or other documentation to other facilities ensuring to maintain HIPAA compliance.
Maintaining the stocked sample medications, as well as serving as a resource to the medical and nursing departments regarding pharmaceutical company coupons, discounts, etc. Maintain sample medication tracking log to maintain compliance with CARF. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school diploma. Certified Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is required. Experienced in or knowledge of the workings of a medical practice or environment. Mental health experience is a plus. Employee must be self-directed, flexible, highly motivated and be able to work with a team approach.
